This committee vets and brings forward to Council proposals for supporting initiatives for young people, which can range from providing financial support to an individual to supporting larger projects. It also coordinates the Club’s involvement in some well-established National Rotary youth projects including:
Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), under which young people are sponsored on a 2 day youth leadership programme. For a number of years the Club has sponsored two students from The Arnewood School on this programme. The Club is involved in selecting the students through an interview process and each year the selected students attend a meeting of the Club to briefly tell us about their experiences.
Rotary Youth Speaks – A national competition between teams of three young people, one as chairperson, the second delivering a talk on a subject of their choosing, and the third proposing the vote of thanks.
Kids Out – On the 2nd Wednesday in June each year we, together with other Clubs in the District, entertain a number of disadvantaged and disabled children at Paulton’s Park
Young Person of the Year Award aims to recognise outstanding achievement by a young person in the New Milton area.
