RIBI and RI
We are part of Rotary International (RI), represented in Britain and Ireland by RIBI. RI is the largest and oldest worldwide service organisation, established in Chicago, USA, and today has some 1,250,000 members, both men and women in some 32,000 clubs across almost 200 countries. RI is a non-political and non-religious organisation withthe proud motto of Rotary ‘Service above Self’ but this has never meant that Rotary comes before one’s family, one’s vocation or one’s health.
How we are organised
Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) has offices in Alcester, Warwickshire and provides services and support to Clubs. For local administration, Rotary is split into a number of Districts, in the British Isles there are 26 Districts. We are members of Rotary Wessex (District 1110), which covers Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Channel Islands and parts of Dorset and Wiltshire and has 77 Clubs. At Club Level, we operate through 6 Committees and a board known as Council.
